Frequently asked questions
What Do You Do About Roof Flashings?
Flashings are used wherever something intersects on the roof (like a skylight). These are some of the most important areas of your roof because if they’re done wrong there is a strong likelihood of a leak. Various materials can be used to protect these areas: sheet metal flashing, lead, copper, galvanized metals, ice and water shield and sealants can be integrated at siding, chimneys, walls, gutter lines, skylights, pipes, and vents. If the existing flashing is in new or “like new” condition it can sometimes be reused. However, since flashing can be the most critical roof component we recommend new flashings if there is any concern. It’s best to fix it all at the same time to prevent future issues.
What Can I Expect During My Skylight Installation?
We should be able to complete the job within the day with minimal disruption to you and your home. While we can work primarily on the exterior of your home, we may have to enter your home to complete the installation properly.
Why Should I Hire a Roofer For My Skylight Install?
Roofers know how to safely and effectively fit a skylight into your roof. We know the ins and outs of proper flashing and water sealing techniques to ensure you don’t have to deal with a skylight leak down the road.
